The Salt City Police Department has detained Moore in connection with an investigation by the Pittsfield Township Police Department, ESPN’s Dan Wetzel and Pete Thamel jointly reported.

Earlier today, Moore was fired from the University of Michigan without cause. While no details were immediately released, athletic director Ward Manuel did issue a statement.

“University of Michigan head football coach Sheron Moore has been fired for cause, effective immediately,” Manuel said in the statement. “Following a university investigation, credible evidence was discovered that Coach Moore had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct is a clear violation of university policy and the University of Michigan has zero tolerance for such conduct. Biff Poggi has been named interim head football coach, effective immediately.”

Notably, Moore was detained during the investigation and not arrested. On3’s Anthony Broome, who covers Michigan football, noted that there are currently no reported charges against Moore and there are no current inmates booked in Sherrone Moore’s name. The city of Saline also released a statement to ESPN regarding Moore’s detention.
