Match Awards from Bayern Munich’s thumping 5-0 victory against VfB Stuttgart

Bayern Munich continued their Bundesliga journey with another emphatic victory, this time over Stuttgart. Swabia had incredible home advantage and their energy troubled the visiting Bavarians all night long. However, the clinical pairing of Michael Ollis and Konrad Laimer, plus some super subs, changed the team’s fortunes record master. Although Stuttgart struggled at certain moments, their defeat was fair game at the end of the 90 minutes. Without further ado, here are the highlights from this game.

Jersey Swap — Josha Vagnoman

Any team’s performance is usually built on two pillars – repeatedly doing the basics well, and the occasional moment of brilliance that delivers that game-changing X factor. However, many times, getting the basics right will create game-changing moments in and of itself. Therefore, there will always be debate over which should be prioritized in terms of recognition.

In today’s game, there are also some players who do a good job with the basics and can help the team play, and there are also some players who are an absolute threat to change the course of the game. VfB Stuttgart’s Jocha Wagenorman falls into the latter category. While he’s not the best player on the pitch, what he does well when he gets the chance is create a threat.

Stuttgart managed to suppress traffic on Bayern’s left wing, largely thanks to Wagenauer. His marking of Luis Diaz was impressive and he didn’t hesitate when he found the smallest chance of a shot in the penalty area. Stuttgart’s forwards missed a trick by not going high enough to allow the right back to drift or overlap. Josha Vagnoman was the standout for the Swabians with two tackles and a close shot on goal.

DeCaesar—Conrad Lehmer

Bayern Munich man Konrad Laimer once again showed his tenacity and indomitable spirit on the pitch. His partnership with Michael Olise is Bayern’s first choice attacking line. Due to Stuttgart’s defensive performance in the first half, Bayern had very few passing lanes left. With his bulldog-like drive towards goal, Laimer would find himself entering the final third with relative ease, giving his teammates some breathing room.

His first goal came from a gorgeous touch that passed through Nübel’s feet. Olise seems to be the best partner with Laimer, who sees the opening laumdeut Where Thomas Müller left off in the summer. Defensively, there are no big complaints from Laimer, who had a solid performance with 4 recoveries.

Vosbalgot — Tom Bischoff

The award is popular for two reasons. The first one is Bischoff starts at left back, so how does he perform in the midfield. Secondly, Joshua Kimmich does most of the regular work in midfield. Shuffling, connecting players and most importantly having some great long passes, which showed that Bayern can also play strong from the back through long balls.

However, Bischoff showed great courage and brilliance in handling the pressure, passing the ball in very tight positions and running to receive the ball in tight positions despite being deeply pressed by Stuttgart’s attackers. With Goretzka reluctant to dribble the ball too often, Bischoff drifted into the middle, shouldering the load alongside Kimmich.

This kid’s left foot is cute. He made a total of four clearances and passed four passes into the final third. While he currently plays a versatile role, he could become an excellent midfielder with more opportunities.

Bomber — Michael Ollis

Needless to say, the only reason Olise passed up MOTM in favor of Bomber was because of a certain hat-trick enthusiast, who we’ll get to in a moment. Before that, though, we have to appreciate what Michael Ollis is capable of as a player. A well-rested Olis cannot play. His skills, his vision, his passing, and his dribbling are almost irresistible to all opponents. Today was no exception, as Stuttgart struggled to contain Olise.

Olise made 7 passes in the offensive zone and created 3 opportunities. The only reason was that Bayern’s offensive performance was poor in the first half, the overall lack of cohesion, and only two assists. Nonetheless, with Harry Kane coming on as a substitute, the situation completely changed, opening the door for Bayern to score.

Man of the Match: Hat-trick Harry Kane

What kind of player is this guy? Starting from the bench, coming on in the 60th minute and scoring a hat-trick, it looked like the total number of goals in this game would not exceed two. Kane completely turned the game on its head and it was absolutely ridiculous. Bayern’s offense not only found its rhythm, but Stuttgart was also confused by the rhythm and offensive changes. In this game, Kane’s turn and interference with the opponent’s defense cannot be missed. His long-range shot showed his confidence and perfect reading of the game.

This game was solid proof that when the Bavarian midfield comes into play, Kane can become more dangerous up front, which is needed against pesky defences. Every touch this man makes seems to create a goal. While the duo of Joshua Kimmich and Alexander Pavlovic performed well against Stuttgart, they struggled against Arsenal, which required Kane to drop deep frequently. This ultimately cost Bayern their advantage against the Gunners. Bringing in reliable midfielders in the winter should be a consideration for the Bavarians’ hierarchy.
