New Delhi: Not just the fans, even the players were amused – MS Dhoni herself had a priceless reaction after Michael Hussey hit a six in an exhibition match at Chepauk. The match pitted former CSK stars against the current team and attracted a large number of supporters wearing yellow jerseys.
Hussey (fondly known as Mr. Cricket) walked in to bat while Dhoni stood behind the stumps. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s arm fell over due to some spin, but the 50-year-old marched down the track and unleashed a thumping strike over the extra cover area.
In a video shared by CSK’s social media account, Dhoni can be seen laughing after seeing the shot. Hussey has been CSK’s batting coach since 2018.
The line-up of former CSK players includes Suresh Raina, Hussey, Matthew Hayden, Murali Vijay, Subramaniam Badrinath, Dwayne Bravo and Muttiah Muralitharan.
On the other hand, current players like Gaikwad, Dhoni, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Khaleel Ahmed and Noor Ahmad are pitted against CSK legends.
Hussey was part of the CSK team that won the IPL title in 2010 and 2011. He played a key role in the 2011 victory, scoring 492 runs in 14 games.
He also performed well in the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring 63 runs off 45 balls to help Chennai Super Kings win the title by 58 runs.
