2027 5-star safety ‘locked in’ with Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is headlined by rising five-star safety Kamarui Dorsey, who is widely considered the top defensive back prospect of this class outside of five-star cornerback John Meredith, who is also a favorite to join the Aggies in the coming months. Already featuring four-star safety JayQuan Snell and four-star cornerback Raylaun Henry, A&M’s future secondary looks close to elite on paper.

In this day and age of zero lucrative deals and the ability to enter the transfer portal after just one season, keeping recruits committed in the spring and summer months leading up to early signing day can seem impossible for some programs, but under head coach Mike Elko, the Aggies have retained nearly all of their commitments over the past two cycles while flipping several elite blue-chip prospects, including freshman running back K.J. Edwards.

Of the program’s 10 commitments for 2027, Kamarui Dorsey will continue to be courted by nearly every Noble program, but remains locked in with the Aggies, as does Georgia native Raylaun Henry, who further explained in an interview with Georgia beat writer Jeff Sentell. Dorsey said he preferred playing in the SEC, and he looks like a perfect fit for Mike Elko’s defensive scheme.

“I’m really focused on Texas A&M right now,” Dorsey said. “I’m not going to make any other visits right now. I always keep an open line of communication with Texas A&M. That’s really the only school I’m focused on. I’m locked in with A&M.”

While this is good news for Elko and his staff, Dorsey did say that multiple programs, including the Georgia Bulldogs, could be included in future visits. This is not surprising, knowing that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for every potential client. Texas A&M, however, remains No. 1 going forward and will take an official visit to College Station on June 12.

“A&M is my home right now, but if I had to say other schools, it would probably be Ohio State, Georgia and LSU.”

Dorsey is currently positioned as the No. 1 prospect in the 2027 class, according to Rivals.
