2 men charged with murder in North Patterson Avenue shooting in Winston-Salem, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) – A second person has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Winston-Salem, according to a news release from the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Around 12:25 a.m. on August 3, police responded to the 3000 block of North Patterson Avenue after reports of a shooting.

Investigators found at the scene DeShawn Christian Capers, 20 Suffered a gunshot wound. He died on the spot.

Gerard De’unta Lewis, 18, of Kernersville, was arrested Aug. 6 and charged with murder. He was held without bail.

Shaerod Lorenzo Jackson, 24, was arrested and charged with murder on Monday. He was held without bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
