Authorities have identified two girls who died in a suitcase and charged their mother with murder.
Cleveland police identified the two victims as 8-year-old Mila Chatman and 10-year-old Amor Wilson. Authorities determined the girls were half-sisters, ABC News reported.
Cleveland police previously told PEOPLE that Aliyah Henderson was charged with two counts of aggravated murder in connection with the girl’s death. FOX 8 quoted police officials as saying Henderson was the mother of the two girls.
It’s unclear whether Henderson has entered a plea or hired an attorney.
The bodies were discovered on Monday, March 2, when a dog walker came across a suitcase.
Police were later called and a second suitcase was discovered.
After Henderson’s arrest, Milla’s father, DeShawn Chatman, spoke to WOIO.
“I have been looking for my daughter for five years,” he claimed to the media. “I’ve been calling the Crown Prosecution Service, going to court, trying to get emergency detention, calling the police to do welfare checks. But they’ve refused all visits.”
Chatman further told the outlet that he is working with detectives to prove that he is Mila’s father.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd said in a statement to PEOPLE that the girls “had their entire future ahead of them.”

“Unlike situations often depicted on television, every detail cannot be made public. Certain information must remain confidential to protect the integrity of the investigation and ensure justice is served for these victims,” Todd said. “The meticulous and methodical work allowed our detectives to locate the evidence needed to quickly identify and ultimately arrest the suspect.”
Police said Henderson was located within 48 hours of the discovery of the body and a search of her home found the third child in good health.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of Mira and Amor’s deaths.
