Less than two months after YouTube TV surprised subscribers with long-awaited multi-view improvements, the streaming company has now confirmed another major upgrade. YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the launch of fully customizable multi-views in his annual letter to users.
“Building on our success in the living room, we firmly believe that watching TV should be simple. We will soon launch fully customizable multi-view and more than 10 dedicated YouTube TV plans across sports, entertainment and news, all designed to give subscribers more control,” Mohan wrote.
While multiview was previously limited to preset channel combinations, the YouTube TV feature is no longer limited to certain channel pairings. This will enable subscribers to customize their screens, select and schedule up to four live channels of their choice.
Viewers will be able to mix sports, news, cooking shows or financial market updates.
Luke Bouma of Cord Cutters News wrote: “This development addresses a long-standing request from users for greater freedom in how they consume live TV, especially during overlapping events where subscribers are unable to create or find multiple views of the channels they want.”
In December 2025, YouTube TV quietly rolled out an improvement that users had been asking for, and subscribers immediately noticed the upgrade.
Before it was improved, the feature contained one annoying feature: the obvious sound icon or bright border around the active audio channel. The problem is that the icons and borders remain visible throughout the viewing session, which many subscribers find distracting and annoying.
After the enhancement, the highlight still appears when the user first launches the multi-view feature or switches audio to a different source, but the highlight disappears quickly. It will only reappear when the subscriber changes focus again.

I’ve written before about how YouTube TV’s multi-view feature is considered one of its key advantages over other streamers. While some other providers offer their own multi-screen viewing services, their services seem to lag behind YouTube TV, mostly due to their “Build Multi-Screen Viewing” option.
This represents another strategic win for YouTube TV, considering the Build Multiview option has now been further upgraded to include more channels.
More entertainment:
After all, users have been asking for it for a long time.
“‘Build Multiview’ is awesome,” user WKRPinPhiladelphia wrote two months ago. “One thing I think would make it better is allowing more channels to be added to our builds. The selections are great. But they could be better and include more options. This “Build Multiview” option is the best yet. There are definitely things Disney can learn to make ESPN’s extremely limited multiview better.
The multi-view feature is often used by sports fans who want to watch several sporting events at the same time. Additionally, according to the Deloitte Center for Technology, Media & Telecommunications 2025 Digital Media Trends Survey, “43% of Gen Z and Millennials surveyed expressed a willingness to pay more for streaming video subscriptions, which includes watching live sports.”
Industry data only confirms the importance of perks like sports programming and multi-views, which again shows that YouTube TV knows what it’s doing.
Users are eagerly awaiting the launch of another major update, which YouTube CEO Mohan also confirmed in a new letter: 10 dedicated YouTube TV plans covering sports, entertainment and news.
The streamer first announced the bundles in November, saying at the time it would launch dedicated sports-specific bundles. Then in December, it released more details, revealing that it would launch more than 10 specific types of packages designed to provide subscribers with more choice and flexibility.
According to the report, YouTube TV Sports The following will be included.
Details on other specific types of products should be announced soon.
Strategic initiatives such as these that directly address user needs help YouTube TV expand its user base.
Omdia data for December 2025 shows: “By 2027, YouTube TV will surpass Charter and Comcast to become the largest pay TV operator in the United States, marking the first time that a virtual pay TV provider has taken the market lead.”
