Applied Digital Corporation (Nasdaq: APLD) designs, builds and operates data centers that support high-performance computing and artificial intelligence workloads. Cramer discussed the company on the Jan. 20 show and commented:
Next, there’s a whole new class of companies that have gained traction over the past year: cryptocurrency miners that are turning racks full of servers into artificial intelligence data centers. Now, it all starts with CoreWeave. I don’t know if you have seen Michael Intrator… CoreWeave’s successful IPO in March last year really surprised everyone. We then see Nebius join the fight. By the way, these stocks are up 33% and 19% respectively in 2026 alone. But some newer cryptocurrency miners have seen increases of more than 40%, such as IREN, Applied Digital, and Riot Platforms. These moves are crazy. I need you to take profits before they get halved…the same carnage we saw with cryptocurrency miners turning to AI data centers. IREN, Applied Digital, and Riot Platforms all fell between 50% and 57% from peak to trough. That’s dangerous.
While we acknowledge APLD’s potential as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and less downside risk.
