Xiaomi EV Technology to be Showcased at Company’s December 28 Stride Event

Xiaomi has confirmed that the company will launch its EV or electric vehicle technology soon. The Beijing-based company is currently considered one of the world’s leading smartphone manufacturers. The company said in 2021 that it would enter the electric vehicle market, with the first such vehicle expected to debut in 2024. Earlier this year, one of the company’s electric vehicles, code-named “Modena,” was being tested in cold, snowy terrain. However, no products will be showcased at the upcoming launch event.

Xiaomi announced in a statement postal According to X news, Xiaomi’s EV technology will be unveiled at the Stride launch conference to be held at 2 pm Beijing time on December 28 (11:30 am US Standard Time). Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi, claim Xiaomi’s electric cars aim to integrate “automotive, consumer electronics and smart ecosystems” to redefine technology in the automotive industry. He also clarified that the December event will only showcase electric vehicle technology and will not introduce any products.

The company has reportedly received approval from China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the agency that oversees investment and production capacity in China’s auto industry, to produce electric vehicles (EVs). Xiaomi has pledged to invest $10 billion (approximately Rs. 82,700 crore) in the field over ten years. Mass production of the first batch of vehicles is planned in the first half of 2024.

In January this year, someone discovered that a Xiaomi electric model code-named “Modena” was being tested in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, allegedly to test the vehicle’s battery performance in extremely cold conditions. The company previously confirmed that it has hired more than 500 experts from around the world to develop in-house autonomous driving technology.
