There are plenty of medals up for grabs on the penultimate day of the Milan Cortina Olympics.
Saturday marks another historic day for Team USA, which will bring Italy its most ever gold medal at the Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo became the GOAT of the Winter Games, several Olympic veterans won medals for the first time, and the Games ended with a spectacular performance.

Team USA wins second consecutive Winter Olympics freestyle mixed aerials gold medal
The U.S. team of Kalia Kuhn, Connor Curran and Christopher Lillis won the freestyle mixed aerials gold medal on Saturday to reach its second consecutive Winter Olympics podium. This is also the 11th gold medal won by the United States team at the Milan Cortina Games, more than the United States has won in a single Winter Olympics.
Lillis clinched the gold medal for the U.S. with a double back full after strong jumps from Kuhn and Curran, giving the U.S. a huge lead. After Chinese player Li Tianma landed, he needed 89 points on the final jump, but ultimately won the decisive team victory with a score of 117.19. Lillis was also a member of the gold medal-winning mixed aerials team at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

The Swiss team won the silver medal and the Chinese team won the bronze medal.
Team USA loses to Canada in women’s curling bronze medal match
Peterson came very close to winning the United States’ first medal in women’s curling, but lost to Canada in the bronze medal game. The United States led 3-2 after five innings, but Canada scored three runs in the sixth when Tara Peterson’s shot missed and Tabitha Peterson couldn’t move Canada’s rock out of the paint.
The U.S. team tied the game 2-0 in the seventh inning, but Canada fought back again with a 3-0 win in the eighth inning. Peterson knocked Team Canada’s stone off the four-foot ring to win 2-0. However, the United States was unable to complete the required steal in the tenth inning, and Canada won 10-7.

Despite not winning a medal, the U.S. women’s curling team reached the semifinals for the first time since 2002.
Mia Manganello wins bronze in women’s speed skating mass start
In her final Winter Olympics, speed skater Mia Manganello won her first individual Olympic medal and took bronze in the women’s mass start event on Saturday.
Manganello, competing in his third Winter Olympics, finished third in 8 minutes, 35.39 seconds. Marijke Groenewoud of the Netherlands won the gold medal in 8:34.70, while Canada’s Ivanie Blondin won the gold in 8:35.09.
Manganeiro, 36, also won a bronze medal in the team pursuit event at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. Like Erin Jackson, she started competing in inline skating before hitting the ice. Manganeiro also competed in cycling from 2010 to the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Klæbo wins sixth gold medal at Cortina Games in Milan
Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo dominated cross-country skiing, winning his sixth gold medal at the 2026 Olympics in the men’s 50km mass start. Norway’s Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget and Emil Iversen won silver and bronze medals respectively.
These six gold medals are the most ever won by a single athlete at a single Winter Olympics. He also won gold medals in the 10-kilometer freestyle, 20-kilometer ski all-around, men’s individual sprint, 4×7.5-kilometer relay and team sprint.
Klebaugh, 29, also added an 11th gold medal to his career, more than anyone in Winter Olympics history.

Figure skating performance gala brings Olympic Games to a successful conclusion
It’s a tradition like no other, giving Olympians one last chance to get together on the ice before the Games end. Saturday’s exhibition game was part show, part celebration, with Yahoo Sports’ Jay Busby writing: “It was like figure skating’s version of the Home Run Derby or the Slam Dunk Contest, a glorious display of the world’s best players at the top of their game.”
Amber Glenn and Ilia Malinin skated for redemption, while Alysa Liu delivered an encore performance after winning gold on Thursday. Meanwhile, men’s gold medalist Mikhail Shaidorov put in an incredible performance.

It’s safe to say Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong’s husband was thrilled with her victory in the women’s 1500m speed skating event.

Team USA’s Kaillie Armbruster-Humphries and Jasmine Jones earned a bronze medal in the doubles bobsled event, retaining their third-place spot heading into the fourth and final run.
For Armbruster-Humphries, it was her sixth Olympic medal, including two in Milan Cortina. Team USA also had two pairs in the top 10, with Kaysha Love and Azaria Hill in fifth, followed by Elana Meyers Taylor and Jadin O’Brien in seventh. Meyers Taylor won gold in the solo ski event on Monday.
