That’s because Higgins suffered a concussion in Week 12, forcing him to leave the game early and even have to be carried off the field. Higgins didn’t train at all last week before being ruled out.

Is it possible Higgins could return in Week 14 after not completing his concussion protocol last week?

This is the latest.

Will Ty Higgins return in Week 14?

Friday update: Higgins has officially cleared the concussion protocol and will play in Week 14.

Wednesday update: Bengals head coach Zac Taylor revealed that Higgins will practice on a limited basis Wednesday, which is an improvement for the wide receiver after not practicing at all last week.

Taylor added that Higgins has not yet come out of the concussion protocol, but he is clearly making progress, giving him a chance to return to action in Week 14.

End of update

Right now, we think Higgins’ chance of playing is 50/50.

Higgins didn’t log a single practice last week, so no progress was made on the protocol.

And, considering he was taken out and ruled out earlier in the week, it appears Higgins’ concussion may be more severe.

If so, you may be out for several weeks.

On Monday, head coach Zac Taylor revealed Higgins remains in the protocol.

“Coach Zac Taylor said Bengals wide receiver Higgins is still receiving treatment for a concussion,” ESPN’s Ben Barbee reports.

However, Higgins was in uniform during the team’s practices, and another report suggested the veteran receiver was “in good spirits.”

“Tee Higgins was in uniform during today’s practice. Back in the locker room,” beat writer Mike Petralia wrote.

NBC 5 Cincinnati’s Charlie Clifford reports: “Tee Higgins was in good spirits in the Bengals locker room today. Higgins is doing well as he is following Zac Taylor’s concussion protocol.”

There are a lot of mixed signals in all of this information, which is why we’re looking at Higgins’ status as a tough call right now.

We’ll get our next update on Wednesday, when the Bengals issue their first injury report of the week. If Higgins shows any signs of involvement, it would be a good sign for him to play.
