I told Kevin, ‘I can’t guarantee you playing time, but I can guarantee you a role, and we need you because we have a lot of young players who are going through the early stages of their careers, trying to find their feet, and you have experience, you’ve had good experiences, you’ve had bad experiences, but you also have what they want, which is long-term development in the NBA. You’ve won at the highest level and you can say things about them that I can’t. Like you can speak from my experience. “Kevin has been very honest with our team and he’s been very honest with me about the struggles he’s had in his career and why, what he’s learned from those things and the perspective he has now. I think those things are helping all of us grow. Believe me, Kevin has had as much of an impact on me as he has on our players.”
