The Wildcats finished the season with a 21-13 record after losing to Florida State in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. While final seeding won’t be determined until the rankings are released, some national ranking projections offer insight into where Kentucky might land. In many predictions, the Wildcats are most often listed as the No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

A prediction from ESPN bracket expert Joe Lunardi places Kentucky in the D.C. area with a possible first-round matchup against Santa Clara. If the Wildcats win that game, the team could move into a second-round matchup with Iowa State.

Other projections have similar seed lines but different opponents. CBS Sports and USA Today project Kentucky to face Central Florida in the first round, while Sports Illustrated lists North Carolina as a possible opponent. If Kentucky advances under these circumstances, potential second-round opponents could include Michigan State, Houston or Illinois.

There are also slight differences between forecasts. Bracketologist Jerry Palm ranks Kentucky as an eighth seed, which could create a more difficult path that includes a potential second-round matchup with Duke.

Bracket Matrix compiled every prediction and ranked Kentucky as a top-7 seed, so that seems to be the favorite place for the Wildcats to land.

At this time, Kentucky’s exact ranking remains uncertain. However, most projections have the Wildcats falling somewhere between the No. 6 and No. 8 seed lines when March Madness officially begins.
