What Louisville coach Pat Kelsey said about Michigan State after loss

The Michigan State basketball team takes on an old rival on Saturday when it takes on the University of Louisville in the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament. However, this is not the Louisville team of old. Led by Tom Izzo’s old friend and rival Rick Pitino, Pat Kelsey, who has coached the Cardinals since 2024, put up a good fight against the Spartans, although they ultimately fell short.

Kelce spoke to the media after the game, and he had tremendous praise for Michigan State and Tom Izzo. You can see what he had to say below:

  • “I want to congratulate Michigan State. They’re a great team and as always, every team Coach Izzo has is tough, physical and disciplined. They played a really good game tonight.”

  • “We were right up there with the best offensive rebounding teams in the country. We were right there. I thought we fought. Thought we scrapped.”

  • “At the end of the day, you have to give No. 1, their point guard, his flower. I mean he had 16 assists, which is crazy, he had 300 assists on the season, which is ridiculous. Really makes the guys around him better.”

  • “The 55 team gave them a great game tonight and gave us a lot of problems.”

  • More on Fear: “Yeah, he’s good. What is he? Second team All-American, first team All-American, stuff like that. He plays like a first-team All-American. You have to game plan for him, you have to give him different looks. We’re not a coverage team… He’s not a great shooter, he’s a great player, he sees all the different coverages. I think he benefited a lot from his pick-and-roll and you know he was 3-for-13 early in the game, which wasn’t that efficient, but he had 16 Assists and 5 turnovers, that’s ridiculous… He’s the last straw for drunkards… He’s lightning in transition…”

  • “They made 11 3-pointers, which was a lot for them, they’re not a great shooting team … 55-year-old man, he had a great game … when he hit two 3-pointers, it was amazing, got to give him credit.”

  • “Big 15, a really good player, I think this was probably his second 3-pointer all year.”
