Week 18 could be worth a lot of money for 2 Commanders’ stars

It’s bonus season in the NFL. As we enter Week 18, several NFL players have hit the contract escalator, triggering guarantees and extra cash. For some people, they need to do more. While Sunday’s regular-season finale means nothing for the standings, it could mean a lot financially for the two Washington commanders.

Linebacker Von Miller is a future Hall of Famer. Miller was signed in training camp to provide some pass rush, but he had to play more games than expected. And he delivered. Miller leads the Commanders with eight sacks. If he completes nine sacks, he will receive a $1 million bonus. That’s actually an additional $500,000, as Miller received the first $500,000 after recording seven sacks.

If Miller has two sacks against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, he will have 10 sacks on the season, which would be his most in a single season since 2018. If Miller gets three sacks, his bonus will reach $1.5 million. You can bet Miller will be looking for Jalen Hurts, Tanner McGee or whichever center the Eagles have on Sunday.

Sunday will also be big for wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Entering Week 18, Samuel has caught 70 passes for 707 yards and five touchdowns. Samuel already had a bonus in last week’s big game against Dallas, as he finished with 70 catches and 700 yards receiving.

Samuel received a $450,000 bonus for catching 70 games and a $250,000 bonus for catching 700 yards. He has six total touchdowns this season (five receiving, one rushing). If Samuel can score eight touchdowns this season, he will receive an additional bonus of $250,000. Additionally, Samuel will receive an additional $200,000 after having 97 receiving yards on Sunday. These are Samuel’s easiest bonuses to get in Week 18. He can hit more, but he needs to be very busy. If Samuel can catch 10 passes on Sunday, an additional $200,000 will be triggered.

Miller and Samuel were two of Washington’s most consistent and productive prospects in 2025, despite an overall disappointing year. Both are set to become free agents in March.
