The Miami Dolphins were without their starting quarterback for several hours on Monday, announcing their intention to release Tua Tagovailoa once the new season begins.
However, shortly after the legal tampering window opened, Miami agreed to a three-year contract with Malik Willis to become their starter through the 2026 season.

Willis didn’t see much action in his first few years in the NFL. The 2022 third-round pick out of Liberty University started just six games and caught 155 passes in four years with the Tennessee Titans and Green Bay Packers.
To familiarize Dolphins fans with Willis and what to expect from him as a starter, let’s take a look at every snap he’s taken during his four appearances (one start) with the Packers in 2025.
It’s clear from the tape that Willis still has some things to improve on, but hopefully new Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slovik can help the quarterback be the best version of himself in South Florida in 2026 and beyond.
