The Golden State Warriors were rocked by a courtside altercation between Draymond Green and Steve Kerr on Monday, December 22. Green left the discussion and returned to the locker room, where he was not present for the second half. Despite the curveball, the Golden State Warriors won 120-97.
At a press conference on December 24, Steve Kerr revealed the contents of his conversation with Green after the incident. The veteran manager pointed out how both sides have since apologized.
“Monday night was not my best moment,” Kerr said. “That’s when I needed to stay calm in the crowd. So I regret my actions in that exchange. I apologized to Draymond. He apologized to me. We all apologized to the team. These things, they happen, especially when you have two very competitive guys like Draymond and I. So, in the 12 years we’ve been together, it’s happened occasionally. I’m not proud of it. So we had a great chat. I care about Draymond very much. And our relationship is like family…
Just like family, you will go through ups and downs. Honestly, my number one goal is for him to finish his career as a fighter with us, fight, metaphorically, not literally, fight and compete together until we’re all gone. I believe this is going to happen because I believe in Draymond, I believe in myself, and I believe in what we’ve built over 12 years. “
Kerr and Draymond now hope to put the incident behind them as they prepare for the Warriors’ Christmas Day game against the Dallas Mavericks. Considering Golden State’s struggles in the first few months of the season, Kerr needs everyone to focus on improving the team’s current standing and building some momentum heading into 2026.
