The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), an industry-owned clearing and settlement market infrastructure, has selected privacy-focused Canton Network as a tokenization partner, the companies said on Tuesday.
The partnership will enable a portion of DTC-custodian U.S. Treasury bonds to be minted on the Canton Network, following DTCC’s recent receipt of a no-action letter from the SEC requiring the implementation and operation of a new service to tokenize DTC-custodial assets in the real world.
According to the press release, the organizations are working to implement the MVP in a controlled production environment in the first half of 2026, with plans to expand the size and scope of the project based on customer interest in the coming months.
Frank LaSalla, CEO of DTCC, said: “DTCC’s partnership with Digital Asset and Canton Network is a strategic step as we work together across the industry to build digital infrastructure that seamlessly connects traditional and digital financial ecosystems and provides unparalleled scalability and security.”
The Canton Network is designed to enable institutions to issue and trade tokenized real-world assets such as bonds, loans, and funds on a shared ledger while maintaining privacy and complying with legal requirements. Digital Asset, the company behind Canton, is backed by powerful Wall Street firms including BlackRock, Blackstone, Nasdaq, S&P Global, Goldman Sachs and Citadel Securities.
In addition to the tokenization initiative, DTCC will play a leadership role in Canton Network’s decentralized governance structure, joining the Canton Foundation as co-chair with Euroclear. The companies said this new role will allow DTCC to actively participate in developing industry-wide standards for decentralized financial infrastructure.
“DTCC’s leadership in this space not only accelerates industry adoption but also sets the stage for meaningful innovation, unlocking new liquidity opportunities, product and operational improvements,” said Yuval Rooz, co-founder and CEO of Digital Asset.
