Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, a remake of the original 2006 Sega classic, is coming to consoles. Sega announced on Sunday that the fighting game will soon be released on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and Nintendo Switch 2, following its launch on PC in January. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on consoles will offer cross-platform support, rollback netcode, and more. The publisher also provided an update on the new Virtua Fighter project being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is coming to consoles soon
Sega announced during Sunday’s Virtua Fighter Direct that Virtua Fighter 5 REVO will be available on multiple platforms.
“I know we’ve kept you waiting, but Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, which we released on Steam, is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
“Since the launch of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, we have heard your requests for multi-platform support through the official VF Discord and other channels. Our development team wants to provide users on all platforms the opportunity to enjoy Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, so we are happy to bring you this news,” he added.
Aoki confirmed that the remastered version on consoles will support cross-platform play from the Steam version, rollback functionality, and new content that will be released in future updates. The console port of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO has no release date yet.
During the VF Direct livestream, Sega also shared an update on the new Virtua Fighter project that was announced at The Game Awards 2024 last year. The publisher has revealed footage of Wolf Hawkfield, the legacy fighter that will appear in the next mainline Virtua Fighter game, as well as a new look for the character. Sega also shared behind-the-scenes footage of the development of the new Virtua Fighter project at RGG Studio.
Virtua Fighter 5 REVO releases on January 28th on PC (via Steam). The remaster features 4K visuals, additional content, and rollback netcode to minimize lag during online play.
