Robert Woods is calling it a career after playing nearly fifteen years in the NFL.
The veteran wide receiver announced his retirement via Instagram on Tuesday after missing a season after the Pittsburgh Steelers fired him in August.

“It’s time for me to leave the sport that has given me everything,” Woods said. “Football has never been just a sport to me – it has been my passion, my goals and my lifelong dream. I cherish every moment my boots touch the grass. Every time I step onto the pitch, I am determined to leave a part of myself in every moment.”
The Los Angeles Rams later announced that Woods, a Los Angeles native, would retire as a Ram.
Woods entered the NFL as a second-round pick of the Buffalo Bills after being an All-American at USC. He spent the early part of his career as a starter in the running offense before finding his greatest success when he signed with the Rams in 2017.

By receiving yardage, Woods had the best four seasons of his career in Sean McVay’s first four seasons as the dangerous No. 2 receiver behind Cooper Kupp. He was coming off another strong season in 2021, but he tore his ACL, leaving a hole that Odell Beckham Jr. filled in the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI run.
The Rams traded Woods a month after winning the championship, and he spent the remainder of his career in diminishing roles with the Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans and Steelers. Despite two 1,000-yard seasons, he was never selected to the Pro Bowl.
