The U.S. Women’s Hockey Team is on pace to do very well at the 2026 Winter Olympics, and Hilary Knight is proving to be a big reason for the team’s success.
The 36-year-old hockey star was competing in his fifth Olympic Games in Milan Cortina and played a huge role in Team USA’s gold medal win. Knight, who set multiple Winter Olympic records with Team USA, revealed an interesting bit of news this week.

Hilary Knight announced on CBS Mornings that she is competing in Italy with a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury. The knee ailment proved so serious that the Seattle Torrents even placed her on injured reserve.

Knight scored the game-tying goal in the gold medal game against Canada. Meanwhile, she stayed on the ice for the entire game and became the top scorer in U.S. Winter Olympics history.
The Olympic veteran holds the U.S. record for most goals, points and games played in both men’s and women’s hockey. Since the end of the Olympics, though, Knight and the women’s hockey team have faced some adversity.

Megyn Keller and Knight even appeared on “Saturday Night Live” to hit back at a viral joke President Donald Trump made before the men’s hockey team won gold. However, Knight continues to show her toughness both on and off the ice.

While Knight struggled with Team USA, the Winter Olympics were also a big deal for her personally. Hilary Knight proposed to American speed skater Brittany Bowe at the Milan Cortina Games.
Needless to say, February is a big month for Knight and the U.S. men’s and women’s hockey teams. It remains to be seen whether the Olympic superstar will be able to host another Winter Games in 2030.
