PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) – Mostly cloudy weather is expected in the Triad today with sunny spots in the mountains and foothills. After a cold start to the day, temperatures will rise into the low 50s by mid-afternoon.
At night, cloudy skies will provide good insulation, keeping nighttime lows around 40 degrees.
Temperatures will be unusually warm starting Tuesday. A low pressure system in the west will slowly slide eastward, pushing warm air into the Piedmont region for several days. Although it will be mostly cloudy, highs on Tuesday will rise into the mid-60s, and that’s just the beginning! Although a cold front is expected to move through the state on Wednesday, the cold air will be well behind the front. Highs will be in the mid-60s with dry, sunny skies.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler on Thursday, around the mid-60s, with mostly cloudy skies.
A second cold front is approaching and temperatures will rise into the 60s on Friday and Saturday. There is a 60% chance of showers on Saturday as it moves across Piedmont.
The air will become drier on Sunday, so it will be sunny with temperatures in the mid-50s.
