Ukraine hits oil terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar, chemicals plant in Perm, SBU says

KYIV (Reuters) – Ukrainian drones attacked the Taman oil terminal in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region and a chemical plant in the Perm region near the Ural Mountains overnight, Ukraine’s SBU internal security service said on Tuesday.

Kiev has stepped up long-range strikes against Russian strategic targets, particularly oil facilities that have powered Moscow’s war machine during the four-year war.

An SBU official said the attack on the Taman terminal was the agency’s second attack on the facility since January 22. Ukraine’s General Staff separately reported an attack on the terminal on Sunday.

SBU drones also struck the Metafrax Chemicals plant in the Perm region, about 1,600 kilometers from Ukraine, which officials said is one of the largest methanol producers in Russia and Europe.

Both attacks came ahead of a new round of U.S.-brokered talks between Ukraine and Russia in Geneva on Tuesday, which are not expected to yield major results.
