Amanda Lemos used her grappling skills to power Gillian Robertson to victory in the UFC Vegas 114 co-main event.
After a rough opening round, Robertson absorbed a lot of damage and eventually started scoring and maintaining control of Lemos on the ground. Just before the end of the match, Robertson landed some hard shots to make sure she got the job done on the scorecards.

When the fight was over, all three judges scored it 29-28 in favor of Robertson, who has now won five straight fights in the strawweight division.
“It was a little rough to start, but the next two rounds… I took over,” Robertson said after the win. “This is five wins in a row…all I need is this belt to solidify myself.”
Lemos started the fight with some nasty front kicks, setting the tone on Robertson’s offense. Robertson tried to close the distance with Lemos, but Lemos kept attacking her, including some stiff leg kicks.
Robertson eventually landed her first takedown midway through the first round, but Lemos also landed some fierce elbows as she reversed position. Lemos looks for a kimura, but Robertson breaks free on the feet again at strawweight.

Robertson started the second frame with a smart takedown and immediately began working to improve his position. Robertson kept looking for submission opportunities, but Lemos stayed out of trouble despite remaining stuck on his back for much of the round.
Lemos did manage to crawl out and take himself down in the closing moments, then landed a few hard punches before the horn sounded.
With five minutes remaining, Robertson again applied pressure, looking for a takedown, but Lemos kept being pushed back against the wall. Lemos did grab the armbar, but Robertson defended effectively before slipping and landing on top to maintain control.
As time wore on, Robertson began to throw elbows and punches to ensure she left with her hands up.

Robertson has an overall record of 6-1 since moving up to 115 pounds, and she continues to slowly but steadily climb the rankings in hopes of a title shot coming sooner rather than later. As for Lemos, she has a 2-4 record in her past six fights, and she hasn’t lost two consecutive fights to Robertson and Tatiana Suarez.
