Where will the draw take place?

The draw will be held at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

How will the draw for the Champions League knockout round play-offs be conducted?

The eight teams from the two-leg knockout stage play-offs and the top eight teams from the league stage will participate in the draw. We will not be seeded in the draw because we are not one of the teams guaranteed to reach the last 16 by finishing in the top eight of the league.

However, we can face teams from our own national association as well as teams we have already competed in this season – in our case that is for sure, our opponents are English club Chelsea or Barcelona, who won 2-1 at St James’ Park in the league stage in September, and they are our only two potential opponents.

UEFA.com explains the draw process as follows:

Clubs are paired according to their ranking at the end of the league stage to form four seeded pairs (clubs ranked 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8).

Each seeded team is drawn into one of two positions in the last 16 against the relevant winner of the knockout play-offs, with their position determined by the knockout play-off draw.

Four bowls were drawn and balls containing the names of each pair of seeded teams were placed in the corresponding marked bowls based on league standings.

The draw will assign all seeded teams to a side of the bracket, starting with the teams ranked 7/8 and ending with the teams ranked 1/2.

A ball is taken from the bowl containing the two relevant ranked teams (i.e. the 7th and 8th ranked teams) and opened to reveal that team. The first team drawn from this bowl is placed in a reserved spot on the silver side of the bracket. The other seeded team in the pairing is then drawn and revealed, then assigned to the corresponding reserved spot on the blue side of the bracket. The remaining seeded teams also follow the same procedure.

When will the round of 16 be played?

The 16 games will be played on Tuesday 10th/Wednesday 11th March and Tuesday 17th/Wednesday 18th March.
