Tyler Morton opens up on failed Leverkusen tranfer

Midfielder Tyler Morton’s failed move to Bayer Leverkusen in late August 2024 has given his insight into the failed Bundesliga move.

“Me and [Xabi] Alonso was on FaceTime, which was incredible to me. Being able to talk to people I idolized as a kid.

“I used to go to the park with my dad and practice long passes, trying to emulate what Hubby did. But Liverpool decided I should stay.

“I didn’t get as much playing time as I would have liked, but it’s been an incredible season for the club,” the 23-year-old told Reds France.

Morton will join Bayer Leverkusen in 2024. The deal was close to being completed but Martin Zubimendi refused and Liverpool ended negotiations at the last minute.

The Englishman eventually moved to Olympique Lyonnais for €15 million – he has made 14 Ligue 1 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
