Twitter: How to Clean, Customise Your Feed

Twitter is one of the most popular microblogging and social networking platforms in the world. Not only does it allow people to express their opinions online, it also creates space for people to engage with others or for organizations to engage with customers. Twitter has a huge user base, and each user has a feed where they can see content posted by their followers or accounts they follow. The feed also includes suggested tweets, so if you want to clean up your Twitter feed and stop seeing tweets you don’t like, here’s what you can do.

There are many ways you can clean up and customize your Twitter feed. You can mute an account, tweet, word, or hashtag. Mute will remove tweets from your notifications tab, push notifications, text messages, email notifications, home timeline, and tweet replies. You can customize your interests or topics of interest. You can also block accounts to limit that specific account from contacting you. You won’t be able to see their tweets and you won’t be able to follow them.

  1. Muting a tweet or account is almost the same in the app or on the desktop. Navigate to the tweet and click Three point menu icon.

  2. You should see two mute options here – Mute Conversation or Mute Account.

  3. Click any option to mute the tweet or account.

Muting an account will not cause you to unfollow the account. They can still send you direct messages, but you won’t receive push or text notifications from these muted accounts.
