president Donald Trump In one of his first morning posts, he blurted out praise for “my new hero” as he grappled with a Supreme Court ruling that destroyed the tariff powers he claimed under emergency powers laws.
Trump held a press conference on Friday afternoon to blast the Supreme Court’s explosive decision to overturn his emergency tariff regime. The 6-3 decision included Republican-appointed chief justice John Robertsas well as judges appointed by Trump Neil Gorsuch and amy coney barrettand three Democratic-appointed judges.
During that press conference, Trump lashed out at the justices with impunity.
When he logged on Saturday morning, he began with a post praising the three dissenters — Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito:
“My new hero is United States Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and, of course, Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Everyone wants to make America great again, without a doubt!” Trump wrote.
The article comes after angry messages were posted on Friday night about the decision and “disloyal Republicans.”
At 7:04 p.m., Trump wrote:
Those Supreme Court members who voted against our very acceptable and correct approach to tariffs should be ashamed of themselves. Their decision is ridiculous, but, now that the adjustment process has begun, we will do whatever it takes to get more money than before!
Later that same time, Trump added a message singling out his appointee:
What happened today to Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, the two U.S. Supreme Court justices with whom I strongly disagree, whether one likes it or not, never seems to have happened to Democrats. They vote against Republicans almost every time, not against themselves, no matter how good our case is. At least I’m not appointing Roberts, who is leading the effort to allow foreign countries that have been defrauding us for years to continue to do so – but we won’t let that happen. New tariffs that have been thoroughly tested and accepted as law are about to be implemented! President Donald J. Trump
As the night wore on, Trump issued a final message at 10:21 p.m., writing “Republicans are so unfaithful to themselves! Unite, unite and win! President DJT”
