Trump Tells Kentucky Crowd ‘I Have Much Better Blood’ Because His Uncle Was an MIT Professor

  • President Donald Trump boasted about having “better blood” while addressing a crowd in Kentucky this week because his uncle is a longtime MIT professor

  • Trump’s comments came as he launched into a tirade against Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie. Massey was one of only two House Republicans to vote in support of the Iran War Powers resolution last week.

  • In addition to insulting his intelligence, the president called Massey “a complete disaster as a congressman and, frankly, as a person.”

Speaking to a crowd in Hebron, Ky., this week, President Donald Trump boasted that he has a “better pedigree” than most because his uncle is a longtime professor at MIT.

While talking about the economy as the United States and Israel continue their war with Iran, Trump suddenly brought up the subject of Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie. Massey was one of only two House Republicans to vote last week in support of the Iran War Powers resolution, which seeks to curb Trump’s ability to continue military action in the Middle East without congressional approval.

“As a congressman and, frankly, as a person, Massie is a complete disaster,” the president said. “He is insane, disloyal to the Republican Party, disloyal to the people of Kentucky, and most importantly, disloyal to the United States of America, and he must be voted out of office as soon as possible.”

Trump and Massey have also clashed recently over members of Congress’ recent push for the full release of Epstein documents.

“You know he’s onto something,” the president said of Massie. “He went to a good college, but I know a lot of stupid people who went to a good college.”

“My uncle was the longest-tenured professor at MIT…41 years…which means I have a much better pedigree,” Trump added. “But I went to Wharton, the toughest college to get into. That means I’m really smart.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has expressed misleading schadenfreude over his uncle, John G. Trump’s longtime job at MIT. The Boston-based university ranks high on prestigious “best of” lists every year, especially in the fields of science and technology.

According to CNN, in July 2025, while speaking at an energy and innovation event in Pennsylvania, Trump said he needed to “brag” about his uncle’s brain.

He again claimed that his uncle was “the longest-tenured professor in MIT history,” but was quickly fact-checked by the school itself.

An MIT spokesperson told CNN after the speech that John G. Trump “remains one of the longest-tenured professors in our history,” not the longest-ever.

The university did, however, praise the president’s uncle as “a highly valued member of the MIT community throughout his tenure as a researcher, innovator, entrepreneur, teacher, and colleague.”

At the same event in Pennsylvania, the president told the crowd that Theodore “Ted” Kaczynski, better known as the “College Bomber,” was one of his uncle’s students — which also turned out to be false.

Trump’s uncle died in 1985, and Kaczynski’s identity was publicly revealed as the college bomber when he was arrested in 1996, meaning there was no known connection between the two men before John G. Trump’s death.

Additionally, Kaczynski did not attend MIT but attended Harvard University and the University of Michigan.

“We have no enrollment records or information that Ted Kaczynski attended MIT,” an MIT spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.
