Critics blamed President Donald Trump for posting a wild photo of himself on Sunday along with a shocking new title.
On his Truth social platform, Trump posted a copycat Wikipedia-style image showing himself as the “acting president of Venezuela” as of January 2026.
Earlier this month, Trump sent U.S. troops into Venezuela to oust its leader Nicolás Maduro and bring him to New York to face trial on drug trafficking charges. Trump failed to win congressional approval, leading to bipartisan condemnation in the Senate.

Delcy Rodriguez, who had served as Maduro’s vice president, was ostensibly the interim president, but after surgery, Trump said the United States would run the country.

Trump also has plans for Venezuelan oil, discussing the issue with industry executives at the White House last week.
The new post shows he is the “acting president of Venezuela,” suggesting that Trump does consider himself in charge of the country.
