A dump truck crashed into the back of a school bus near mile marker 350 on Interstate 10 in Jacksonville on Monday. The crash happened around 6:54 a.m. when both vehicles were traveling in the right eastbound lane of Interstate 10.
The dump truck driver, a 44-year-old Jacksonville man, said he “was extremely fatigued and fell asleep at the wheel,” a Florida Highway Patrol news release said. “When he woke up, he noticed he was about to hit the bus and tried to get out of the way, but was unable to do so in time,” the release said.
The front of the truck collided with the rear of the bus, the release said. There were no reports of injuries and there was only one child in the vehicle.
