Mercedes Formula 1 CEO and team principal Toto Wolff has joked about Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s crash in his new company car, explaining that – thankfully – the only thing hurt was the Italian driver’s pride.
Antonelli was handed the keys to an exclusive Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO Motorsport collector’s edition company car ahead of the 2026 F1 season, worth around £180,000. But just a few days after driving, he hit a guardrail in Italy. Fortunately, no other vehicles or people were involved in the collision.

“I think he was more embarrassed than anyone else, that’s the most important thing,” Wolfe told sky sports germany In Bahrain, he was asked how much ridicule Antonelli had to endure when he returned to action.
“I immediately wondered if anyone was hurt, if he hurt himself or, God forbid, if anyone else was hurt. No, that wasn’t the case.
“It’s a shame that this is a great car, but in the end, it’s just a car, even if it’s the best AMG,” he added with a smile.

Antonelli’s AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collector’s Edition is extremely rare, with only 200 units produced. The metallic obsidian black base color is inspired by the 2024 Mercedes F1 race car, with hand-painted silver arrows on the rear complemented by Petronas Turquoise accents.
Mercedes confirmed the crash in Serravalle, Italy, in an official statement. “Kimi was involved in a traffic accident near his home in San Marino last Saturday night,” Team Blackley explained.

“The police rushed to the scene after receiving a call from Kimi. His car was the only car involved and although the vehicle was damaged, Kimi was completely uninjured.”
The incident occurred before Antonelli flew to Bahrain for pre-season testing.
