Tom Brady knows a thing or two about winning the NFL MVP award. The future Hall of Famer won the award three times during his career, twice in his 30s and once in his 40s.
Now that he’s a broadcaster, Brady has spoken more openly about his thoughts on the NFL’s current situation, and on Sunday, he was asked to pick the league MVP: Matthew Stafford or Derek Meyer.

Stafford’s answer came shortly after he threw for 259 yards and four touchdowns against the Cardinals, giving him 46 touchdowns and a league-best 4,707 passing yards. Meyer, meanwhile, threw for just 191 yards and one touchdown against the Dolphins.
Even though Meyer played for his old team in New England, Brady still chose Stafford as this season’s MVP.
“I think Matthew Stafford’s performance this season has been absolutely phenomenal,” he said on Fox. “Forty-six touchdowns, it’s a dream season for any quarterback. He’s been outstanding. Derek Meyer on the other side has done some unbelievable things in his first year with Josh McDaniels. Drake still has a long way to go in his career. I believe he’s going to have a lot of opportunities. I’d say Matthew Stafford.”
Incredibly, Stafford went from +400 to -135 after Sunday’s performance, surpassing Meyer as the favorite to win the award. Meyer looked like he had his spot locked in after Stafford threw three picks against the Falcons in Week 17, but his rebound against Arizona might be enough to earn him some hardware.

As the NFL’s passing yardage and touchdown pass leader, Stafford is easily the MVP this season. Meyer is playing well, but his numbers are worse and his schedule is weaker.
Many will agree with Brady that Stafford should be the one to deliver the MVP speech at the NFL Honors Show.
