Thousands of cars cross West Columbia’s Sunset Strip every day.
Now, there’s a new shop on the road where drivers can stop and pick up parts to repair these cars if needed.
AutoZone, which has thousands of stores across the United States, plans to open a new auto parts store at 2250 Sunset Blvd. In West Columbia. It is located in Westland Square Shopping Center and there is a Food Lion supermarket nearby. The location where AutoZone is headed has a large sign in the window announcing it’s “Coming Soon,” and a building permit from the City of West Columbia taped to the window.
An opening date for the new auto parts store has not yet been announced. Recently, when reporters passed by, the space was under construction. The AutoZone sign in the window has a QR code for those who might be interested in applying for a job there.

AutoZone is a ubiquitous brand in the auto repair world, with stores nationwide and regionally. There are currently 15 AutoZone stores in the Richland and Lexington county areas, according to a store locator tool on the company’s website. Its stores are known for selling batteries, oil, tools, spark plugs, headlights, wipers and hundreds of other car-related accessories.
Westland Square shopping mall is home to a number of businesses, including the aforementioned Food Lion, Cucinella’s Pizza, Pho & Banh Mi Asian restaurant, etc. The shopping center is less than a mile east of Interstate 26, and other nearby businesses include Lizard’s Thicket, Groucho’s Deli and Rush’s. It is located approximately one mile east of the main campus of Lexington Health Center.
