ICYMI, Karoline Leavitt faced backlash after she said “we’re moving away from this” during a press conference on Tuesday after reporters asked her about a new Epstein document released by the Justice Department.

“As a country, we have an opportunity to send a strong message that we will not protect those who harm children. We will stand up for justice regardless of our politics. We will reach across the aisle and we will support survivors in their fight for justice,” Stein began.

“We continue to hear from our press secretary, the Department of Justice and other government officials that they are taking action,” she continued. “I hope we can do it,” she said, as other survivors and family members behind her nodded.

“I met Epstein and Maxwell when I was 21. I’m almost 53 now,” she said. “As survivors of this crime and as citizens of this country, we cannot move forward without changing this narrative. So I’m asking all of you to support us and demand accountability from our government, because we certainly will.”

After survivors spoke before the hearing, Bundy faced anger and harsh questioning from lawmakers over the Justice Department’s handling of Epstein-related documents. She refused to apologize to the survivors in the room, all of whom raised their hands when Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) asked them if they were unable to meet with the Justice Department.
