DENVER (KDVR) — After a warmer-than-normal winter, Colorado is finally getting a big dose of snow, with some parts of the state getting several feet of snow in a week.
Ski areas in Colorado have been struggling with a lack of snow, with some even delaying their opening dates to await more snow. This winter still hasn’t seen as much snow as usual, but by mid-February some areas across the state are getting some much-needed snow.
What exactly is a “bomb cyclone”?
Denver saw only a few flakes flying all week and nothing was recorded on the ground, but other areas recorded nearly 4 feet of snow.
How much snow does it snow in a week?
Here’s where the heaviest snow will fall from Sunday, February 15th to Sunday, February 22nd, according to local storm reports from Iowa State University:

Wolf Creek Pass in Pueblo County saw the heaviest snowfall this week, with 44 inches (nearly 4 feet) of snow. Meanwhile, areas such as Crested Butte, Cameron Pass and Rabbit Ears Pass saw more than a foot of snow. This snowfall brought a lot of snow to ski resorts, but snowfall totals this winter are still low.
Kentucky got more snow than Denver this winter
Last year, some ski areas saw up to 200 inches of snowfall around mid-to-late February, but the snowiest areas so far this year, such as Crested Butte, have only received 109 inches.
