British stone. LOUIS — Several St. Louis-area hospitals have been named the nation’s best hospitals in new Forbes rankings, earning accolades for patient care, value and hospital performance.
Forbes released its first-ever “Forbes Best Hospitals 2026” list in early December, focusing on medical centers that score well in patient outcomes, best practices, financial value and patient experience. According to Forbes, the selected hospitals “provide first-class, high-value medical services.”
To compile the list, Forbes partnered with healthcare analytics firm Inovalon to analyze data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Provider Data Directory as part of its methodology.
In Missouri, these hospitals are the top hospitals in the St. Louis area, with each receiving an overall score of four or five stars, according to Forbes:

Parkland Health Center (Farmington)

Mercy Hospital of St. Louis (St. Louis)

Missouri Baptist Medical Center (St. Louis)

St. Luke’s Hospital (Chesterfield)
In Illinois, these hospitals are the highest-ranked in the St. Louis area, with each receiving an overall score of four or five stars, according to Forbes:

Belleville Memorial Hospital (Belleville)
According to recent estimates, there are approximately 160 licensed hospitals in Missouri and more than 200 licensed hospitals in Illinois.
