The Trump administration sent federal agents last week to arrest journalist Don Lemon, who has now been released despite a judge refusing to approve federal charges against him a week ago. “The View” host Ana Navarro thinks the president should be worried because they “elected the wrong guy.”
ABC hosts mostly scoffed at the move when discussing the arrests on Monday’s Hot Topics, calling it a ploy to “send a chilling message to anyone reporting the facts.” Navarro is once again crushing the government because of “gaslighting” voters and “fear” of the truth being revealed.
“I think they picked the wrong guy because Don Lemon wouldn’t play dead,” she said. “Don Lemon has the wherewithal, he has the structure, he has the team, he has the courage, he has the wherewithal to stand up to this administration.”
“He’s going to do whatever he can,” Navarro continued.
Host Sunny Hostin readily agreed, again citing her experience as a former federal prosecutor to make an educated guess at how Lemon’s case would play out in the legal system.
“You know what’s going to happen, he’s going to have his day in court and I suspect the case will be dismissed,” she said. “There is no basis for this case.”
Hostin acknowledged that she was close friends with Lemon himself but dismissed the notion that Lemon obstructed any rights, which is what he was charged with.
“I was in Ferguson with Don. I was on the ground with Don in South Carolina. Don was a journalist,” she said. “He’s a reporter on the ground. He’s been pepper-sprayed, he’s been tear-gassed, he’s getting the story and nothing should get in his way. He’s got a microphone with him, he’s got a cameraman with him, he’s doing journalism.”
