Not only did Barcelona’s 2-1 loss to Girona spark a refereeing controversy, but the team has seen a frustrating trend throughout the season.

The most painful moment was when Lamine Yamar stepped up to take the penalty kick.
The young winger had a chance to equalize but his shot bounced off the post, leaving Barcelona stunned.
Even more frustratingly, just two minutes earlier Raphinha had seen his try hit the woodwork.
Look at the worrying numbers
These two moments are not isolated incidents. In fact, they are part of a larger pattern that will plague Barcelona throughout the 2025/26 season.
With two goals against Girona, The Catalan giants have hit the post or crossbar 32 times this season and a shocking 25 of them are from La Liga.

In the Copa del Rey, however, things are less forgiving. In the semi-final against Atletico Madrid, the goalframe was brutal once again.
With Atletico leading 2-0, FermÃn Lopez thought he had a goal back, only for his shot to hit the post in the 20th minute.
No team in Europe’s top five leagues is more affected by this depressing statistic than Barcelona..
