The Blues were linked with Alvarez before he moved to La Liga, where he scored 40 goals in 88 appearances for Atletico.

The Blues currently have Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as their ninth options, with Emmanuel Emerga set to join from Strasbourg in the summer.
Pedro has performed well and has equaled his ten Premier League goals from last season, while Delap has struggled.

Alvarez could be on the move this summer, with the 26-year-old also linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, but Candy has urged the Blues to make a move.

“When we talk about what Chelsea need we often talk about the type of players that are readily available and Julian Alvarez fits that type of player that we need,” he told talkSPORT.
“I hope we sign more players like this. He’s ready for the Premier League. You don’t wait for someone to adapt to the Premier League.
“There’s a lot to like about him, but there’s also a lot of money.”
According to reports, Atletico would need to pay at least £86 million if they were to let Alvarez leave at the end of the season.
Emmanuel Emegha will arrive in the summer
Whether Chelsea will move for Alvarez remains to be seen, but they do have a striker in Emerga’s caliber.

Emega scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 under Liam Ronior last season and made his debut for the Dutch national team in November.
The 23-year-old offers another option but like many of Chelsea’s signings he is yet to be a proven entity and it will be interesting to see how he adapts.
