Texas A&M is ‘still pushing’ to host 2027 5-star defensive lineman

If the momentum holds over the next two junior weekends, Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is expected to end at No. 1, as the Aggies are reportedly in the market for several five-star prospects and No. 1 defensive lineman Jalen Brewster remains firmly committed to Texas Tech but is receiving plenty of attention from the Aggie coaching staff.

After landing and ultimately signing 2026 five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, who will likely compete for a key rotation spot during his freshman season, head coach Mike Elko has proven his ability to recruit the best players in every recruiting cycle and still has an eye on flipping Brewster, who was considered a future NFL first-round draft pick due to his size and passing ability inside.

Indiana-born Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti has built a once doormat Big Ten program into a powerhouse that will face Miami in the national championship game next Monday night. Signetti and his staff have reportedly made some progress with Brewster, who plans to visit Bloomington soon.

However, Texas A&M is also reportedly in a good position to secure a visit, as rival insider Greg Biggins posted that he had one-on-one with Jalen Brewster to talk about the Aggies’ interest.

“A&M is still trying to recruit me and I’m hearing from a lot of coaches,” Brewster said. “Coach Elko is involved and I’ve heard from Coach Mann, Coach Lynch and all the defensive coaches. It’s another school that I’m considering taking an official visit to.”

Getting Brewster on campus is the first step toward a potential flip, and with new defensive line coach Elijah Robinson already making an impact in the transfer portal, he, along with Mann and Lynch, will be key recruiters for another visit to Cedar Hill this summer and another appearance at Texas A&M’s 2026 home game.

Jalen Brewster is the sixth-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 3 prospect in the state of Texas, according to Rivals.
