Tata Curvv EV was launched in India on Wednesday. The electric vehicle (EV) marks Tata Motors’ first entry into the country’s emerging sports utility vehicle (SUV) coupe segment, with the Citroen Basalt also expected to debut in the segment soon. Highlights of the Curvv EV include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), two battery pack options with fast charging support, and connectivity with the Tata iRA app for automotive features. Notably, Tata Motors has also launched an SUV coupe with petrol and diesel engine options.

Tata Curvv electric car price in India

Tata Curvv EV price in India starts at Rs. The base Creative variant with a 45kWh battery pack is priced at Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec trim Empowered+A is priced at Rs. 21.99 Lakh (ex-showroom). Prices are mentioned as an introductory mention.

The SUV coupe is available in five trims: Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished+S, Empowered+ and Empowered+A. Tata Motors has launched the Curvv EV in five colors: Empowered Oxide, Flame Red, Pristine White, Pure Gray and Virtual Sunrise.

Bookings for the new SUV coupe will begin on August 12, while those who want to test drive the car can do so at Tata Motors showrooms from August 14. Deliveries of the Curvv EV will begin on August 23.

Tata Curvv EV design, powertrain and batteries

The Tata Curvv EV and ICE versions have a similar SUV coupe design, except for a few elements. The car rides on 215/55 profile 18-inch wheels with aerodynamic inserts, thick body cladding and recessed door handles. It features continuous LED DRL lights and lower-positioned LED projector headlights at the front. The SUV coupe has a ground clearance of 190 mm and a water fording capability of 450 mm. The EV’s luggage space is 500 liters, while the trunk (front luggage compartment) offers 11.6 liters of storage space.

As for the powertrain, the Tata Curvv EV comes with a single front-mounted 123kW liquid-cooled motor that produces 167 horsepower. Thanks to this powerful engine, Tata Motors claims a 0-100 acceleration time of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 160 km/h. It is available in two battery packs: 45kWh and 55kWh. According to the company, the 45kWh option has a maximum range of 502 kilometers on a single charge (claimed by ARAI), while the larger battery pack claims a range of 585 kilometers on a single charge. However, Tata Motors says these options can provide real-world estimated (C75) ranges of up to 350 km (45 kWh) and 425 km (55 kWh).

Battery options are limited to specific models, with base models of the Curvv EV only offering a smaller battery pack, while higher versions can opt for a 55kWh option. Tata claims that the Curvv EV can be charged in just 15 minutes using a 70kW DC fast charger and has a range of up to 150 kilometers. It also has vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities.

Tata Curvv EV Features

One of the highlights of the Tata Curvv EV is its Level 2 ADAS functionality, which supports 20 functions in the top model. It has a comprehensive feature list that includes a 12.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto capabilities, a JBL-tuned sound system with a 320W subwoofer, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a voice-enabled panoramic sunroof, and an automatic climate control system with an air purifier. It builds on the connected driving features offered by Tata Motors with its other vehicles such as the Nexon EV.

There’s also a new power tailgate with gesture functionality, as well as automatic headlights and cruise control. Curvv EV comes with Tata’s Arcade.ev experience, which offers over 20 apps. The Tata Curvv variant also features keyless entry with request sensor and push-button start.

In terms of interior comfort, the top trim of the Curvv EV features leatherette upholstery, front ventilated seats, auto-dimming IRVMs, multi-mood ambient lighting, six-way adjustable front seats, two-step rear seat recline function, front and rear USB Type-C ports and a cooled glove box.

Tata Motors has made several standard features for all its electric car models. These include six airbags, ESP with auto-hold function, multi-mode regeneration with paddle shifters, multi-drive modes (Eco, City and Sport) as well as connected car features with iRA app support, SOS call functionality, hill descent control, electronic parking brake and smartwatch connectivity. The electric vehicle is also equipped with a pedestrian warning audible alert provided by the new Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), which operates at speeds below 20 kilometers per hour in congested areas.
