Talks with US were ‘step forward,’ we won’t ‘tolerate language of force’

“Our logic on the nuclear issue is the clear rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty,” Pezeshkian said, adding that “the Iranian nation has always responded to respect with respect.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called recent U.S.-Iran nuclear talks in Oman a “step forward” in a post on X/Twitter on Sunday.

“Our logic on the nuclear issue is clear rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty,” Pezeshkian said, adding that “the Iranian nation has always responded to respect with respect, but it does not tolerate the language of force.”

Pezeshkian also expressed his gratitude to “friendly governments in the region for their efforts in facilitating this meeting.”

“Our nuclear bomb is the power to say no to big countries”

On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who was attending the Muscat meeting, delivered a speech on the U.S.-Iran talks to the National Congress on the History of Foreign Policy and Foreign Relations of Iran, Iran’s semi-official Meir news agency reported.

Araghchi, like Pezeshkian, claimed that Iran has the right to carry out its nuclear program and uranium enrichment, and that other countries cannot dictate its activities in these fields.

“No one has the right to tell us what we can or cannot have,” Araghchi said. “Diplomacy is the only way forward, but it will only succeed if our rights are recognized. We seek no one’s permission; these rights are inherent and must be respected.”

Araghchi stressed how important it is for Iran to resist foreign influence, saying “our nuclear bombs are the power to say no to big powers.”

“We are not intimidated by the military posture of our opponents in the region,” Araghchi said. “We believe in diplomacy and logic, but we are also prepared for war. We have strength.”
