He scored 24 off the first 24 balls, meaning he had just 56 deliveries in his final 151 runs.

Suryavanshi stayed at the crease for 126 minutes and was eventually dismissed by England seamer Manny Lumsden in the 26th over as India left with 251-3.

Lumsden carried the ball forward and Suryavansh tried a hard sweep towards England captain and wicketkeeper Thomas Rew.

As Suryavanshi left the field, some England players shook hands with him in recognition of his brilliant performance in the innings.

Suryavanshi’s score took his World Cup score to 439 runs in seven innings at 62.71, four points ahead of Afghanistan’s Faisal Khan, the tournament’s top run-scorer.

Some other noteworthy statistics from Suryavanshi’s innings:

  • This is the highest score in an Under-19 World Cup final, beating India’s 111* scored by Unmukt Chand in the 2012 final against Australia.

  • The innings gave him the ninth-highest score in junior ODI history. South Africa’s Jorich van Schalkwyk (215 vs Zimbabwe) is the only player to score a double century.

  • This is the sixth highest individual score in the history of all U19 World Cup competitions.

  • His batting set a record for the most number of six innings in a youth ODI innings (15), breaking the record of 14 he had set against the United Arab Emirates in the U19 Asia Cup last year.

  • His 15 sixes are the most in an Under-19 World Cup innings. Only two other players scored in double figures.

  • The 55-goal 100-goal haul is the second-fastest in the U19 World Cup, behind only Will Malajczuk’s 51-goal 100-goal haul against Japan earlier this year.

It is the latest achievement for Suryavanshi, who shot to fame last April when he scored his first six goals in the Indian Premier League.

In July 2025, he scored 143 off 78 balls in Worcester, setting the then-fastest youth ODI hundred, helping India beat England by 55 runs.
