Steelers release veteran cornerback ahead of playoffs

The Steelers announced their decision to part ways with 30-year-old cornerback Trey Flowers on Monday, a move made possible after multiple cornerbacks returned to Pittsburgh from injuries.

After signing a one-year deal with the Steelers in December, Flowers played in just one game for Pittsburgh, Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. The following week, he was healthy for the final regular season game against the Baltimore Ravens.

With Flowers gone, Joey Porter Jr., James Pierre, Brandin Echols and Asante Samuel Jr. are the only cornerbacks left on the roster, while safety Jalen Ramsey also has plenty of experience inside and outside.
