Steelers LB TJ Watt hospitalized after experiencing discomfort in his lungs

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers star outside linebacker T.J. Watt is hospitalized with lung discomfort.

The seven-time All-Pro and 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was taken to the hospital Thursday after initially reporting discomfort to the club’s medical staff on Wednesday, team spokesman Burt Lauten said.

Lauten said Watt, 30,’s status Monday night from Miami was uncertain. Watt has started 56 consecutive regular season games for Pittsburgh (7-6).

Watt led the NFL in sacks three times in his nine seasons, all with the Steelers. He tied a league record with 22.5 sacks in 2021.

Watt, who has seven sacks in 2025, recently passed his older brother, three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt, on the league’s career sack list, recording his 115th sack last month.
