Starknet goes down for over 4 hours, team is ‘actively investigating’

Starknet, an Ethereum layer 2 aggregation, is investigating an outage that caused the protocol to be temporarily offline for more than 4 hours.

“Starknet is currently experiencing downtime,” the project posted on X, adding that its team is “actively investigating the issue and working to restore full functionality as soon as possible.”

The outage could have knock-on effects for decentralized finance and other on-chain applications, including stalled swaps, delays in withdrawals and difficulties updating positions.

Starknet did not immediately provide details on the root cause, estimated recovery time or whether user funds were at risk.

CoinDesk reached out to the team for comment but did not respond in time for publication.

The price of its native token STRK has barely changed, rising just 1.92% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
