After sending – no. 3 UConn Friday night, St. John’s College moved up five spots to No. 17 in this week’s AP Top 25 poll. The Red Storm also moved up to No. 17 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll.
This is the ninth week this season that St. John’s has been ranked in the AP Top 25 and their third consecutive week on the list. St. John’s has been ranked in the top 25 for 22 consecutive weeks over the past two seasons, the most in a row since 23 consecutive weeks in the top 25 since the 1998-99 and 1999-00 seasons.

St. John’s and UConn are once again the only two Big East teams in the AP poll. The Huskies dropped three spots to sixth after losing to the Red Storm. Villanova received 17 votes in this week’s poll, ranking fifth among unranked teams.
St. John’s defeated UConn 81-72 on Friday night, marking St. John’s first win over a ranked opponent this season after losing three games to ranked teams (Alabama, Iowa State and Auburn) in non-conference play.
The Red Storm will face the Xavier Musketeers (12-11, 4-8 Big East) on Monday, February 9. The game at Madison Square Garden is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and can be watched on FS1.
