Spurs set to hire Tudor as interim boss until end of season: reports

Tottenham Hotspur will hire Igor Tudor as interim manager until the end of the season following Thomas Frank’s sacking, it was reported on Friday.

The Tudors have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Tottenham Hotspur and the deal is expected to be finalized soon.

The 47-year-old was sacked by Juventus in October after the Italian club went eight games without a win and finished eighth in Serie A.

He has also coached Lazio, Marseille, Verona, Hajduk Split, Galatasaray and Udinese.

At Juventus, Tudor took over a team that failed to qualify for a Champions League place at the end of the 2024-25 season, but guided them to a fourth-place finish after losing just one of his first 11 games in charge.

When his appointment is confirmed, the former Croatia defender will be tasked with cleaning up the mess left by Frank, who was sacked on Wednesday following the 2-1 loss to Newcastle 24 hours earlier.

Tottenham Hotspur are just five points above the Premier League relegation zone.

Frank was hired from Brentford last year following the sacking of Angie Postecoglou, but has paid the price for a poor two wins in 17 league games.

Tottenham Hotspur players have been asked to rest until Monday as the club has no weekend games following their FA Cup exit in January.

Tudor is expected to be in place when they return to training.

The manner in which the interim manager was chosen follows the template used by Manchester United, who hired Michael Carrick until the end of the season after sacking Ruben Amorim.

Tottenham were also linked with former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic and ex-Leipzig boss Marco Rose before reports emerged that they had agreed a deal with Tudor.

Candidates for the permanent job at Tottenham Hotspur could include their former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who represented the United States at the World Cup in June and July.

Tottenham’s next game is a north London derby at home against Premier League leaders Arsenal on February 22.
