‘So It’s Possible it Was a Bad Shooting?’ Border Patrol Honcho Greg Bovino Peppered With Questions in Fiery Presser

border patrol commander in chief Greg Bovino A news conference Sunday afternoon quickly turned heated as reporters began asking him several questions about the shooting. Alex Pretty This happened a day ago in Minneapolis.

Bovino told reporters that Preti “attacked” Border Patrol agents before he was shot and repeatedly mentioned that he made “choices” that increased the likelihood of a deadly confrontation. Both claims angered some reporters and sparked some heated arguments.

One of the exchanges began with a female reporter asking Bovino “Was Alex Pretty armed when he was shot?”

Bovino declined to answer, saying “all these facts” would be confirmed during the ongoing investigation. “I’m not going to speculate,” Bovino said.

He then said Preity was an “aggressive subject” who was “attacking” police officers and interfering with the arrest of a violent illegal immigrant. The comment angered the reporter, who disputed Bovino’s claim that Preti carried out the attack.

“Leave me alone,” Bovino told her.

The reporter then asked: “If the investigation is ongoing and you haven’t reached a conclusion yet, is it possible that this was a bad shooting? Or have you reached the conclusion yourself that this is reasonable?”

“I haven’t come to any conclusions and I’m not giving you any conclusions,” Bovino said.

“So it could have been a bad shooting?” the same reporter asked.

“All I know is that this individual was on the scene minutes before the shooting and interfered with lawful, lawful, ethical law enforcement operations,” Bovino responded. “Going back to choice – when someone chooses to enter an active law enforcement scene and disrupt, impede, delay or assault a law enforcement officer -“

The comment upset the reporter, who yelled at Bovino: “He didn’t attack a law enforcement officer!”

Bovino went on to answer, “They brought weapons to do it and that was the choice that person made.”

A few minutes later, a male reporter pointed back and forth like this Renee Goode Filmed earlier this month. The reporter asked whether Bovino or anyone at ICE would “take any responsibility for these actions?”

Bovino responded that it all “depends on the choices people make.” Bovino said when “individuals make poor choices” and interfere with law enforcement operations with a 9mm gun, it can lead to dire consequences.

Bovino said at the top of the news conference that the shooting was a “tragedy that could have been avoided if people had made better choices.” His comments came a day after Bovino said on Sunday that Preti was trying to “slaughter” immigration agents.

Bovino added later Sunday that he would “implore anyone – whether they are anarchists, rioters or anyone else who thinks it’s wise to go into a law enforcement scene to disrupt and delay – not to do this.”
